Larry and I enjoy videos that explore the many expressions of kindness in the world. We like sharing those that spark our imagination and reflect the impact that our kind actions have on the lives of others.
Opportunities to be kind often show up unexpectedly. This short video shows the power we have to make a difference in someone else’s life through a simple thoughtful act.
Simple Acts of Kindness (HD) - Give it a Try
Our life experience has shown us that kindness comes back to us, usually from people we don’t know. Once in a while, it does return to us from the person to whom we had been kind.
This video is a dramatization of kindness coming full circle. It demonstrates the impact of one small act on someone’s life, and the synchronicities of life that enable the return of the kindness years later.
In 2007, Nipun Mehta and friends in Berkeley, Califirnia imagined a restaurant where guests were not charged for their meals, but were given the opportunity to “pay it forward” for the person behind them. That led to a volunteer run experiment called the Karma Kitchen.
Some guests were not able to pay much, and others paid more than they would have been charged. With the support of over 21,600 volunteer hours of service, they have now served nutritious meals “made with love” to over 34,000 guests.
Building on their success, they eventually expanded to Chicago, Washington DC, and Tokyo. Along the way, they inspired others around the world to begin their own pay-it-forward restaurants.
