Inspiring Videos to Uplift Your Day
Great opportunities to help others seldom come,
but small ones surround us every day.

My Muse is Taking a Day Off
Most days, as I begin to write I have an inspiration – a persistent message that wants to express through me. Although I say that it comes from my muse, I know that she is a deeper part of me. We are in a mysterious partnership that enables me to do what I do.
My muse has never failed me. Even in a week when I have had no inspiration, by Saturday, I am inspired with the next message.
On this Saturday, however, no message presented itself to me, and my logical brain is equally uninspired. So, this must be a good time to share some videos that spoke to me. I hope that they speak to you as well.
Kindness to animals:
We couldn’t resist sharing a video about kindness to some of our favorite animals.
Donkeys Can’t Stop Smiling When Woman Hugs Them
Victoria works for Long Hopes Donkey Shelter.
The donkeys are usually pretty nervous of the humans at first,
but once they start to see how gentle and caring they are, they settle in perfectly.
They love getting scratches and love getting human hugs.
Kindness of animals to one another:
We seldom think of the kindness of animals to each other. Here is one that shows a compassion that we do not expect from dogs.
Wellness for the Heart - Hero dog saves another after it was hit in the highway
Incredible surveillance camera video from Chile of a stray dog gently
rescuing another stray dog from the middle of the highway in heavy traffic.
Kindness to an entire community:
Kindness takes many forms. This man shows his kindness to his neighbors by power-washing the pavement in his hometown.
Man becomes local hero after cleaning his hometown's filthy pavements in his spare time
Andrew Carr was fed up with the paths and cobbles in Alnwick, Northumberland,
being covered in chewing gum and dog poo. He decided to take action himself
after he finished washing a shop’s windows and gutters.
Kindness in unexpected places:
Although much of this story takes place in unimaginable settings, the story is one of kindness and hope when both were needed. Lessons learned inspired Werner Reich to pursue a career he enjoyed that enabled him to live a life of service to others.
How the magic of kindness helped me survive the Holocaust - Werner Reich
Holocaust survivor Werner Reich recounts his harrowing adolescence as a prisoner transported between concentration camps — and shares how a small, kind act can inspire a lifetime of compassion. "If you ever know somebody who needs help, if you know somebody who is scared, be kind to them," he says. "If you do it at the right time, it will enter their heart, and it will be with them wherever they go, forever."
I recently came across a donkey and a horse co-existing in a large fenced in pasture. I asked the owner if I could pat them and she suggested I do not go in their pasture until they get to know me. I have been visiting them once a week for a few months now with a few carrots and sometimes apples. When the donkey sees me holding up a carrot she comes galloping over to me. Recently, she has let me brush her after having some treats. Before this she was hesitant to this and would walk away after the treats were gone. I have found such joy feeding and being with both of them, but especially creating a bond with Honey, the donkey. I have so enjoyed watching the many videos about donkeys and therefore learning more and more about them. Thank you so much for posting these videos of these sweet, loving animals!
Thank you, Maggie. I’m so glad that you got to know a donkey.
When treated with kindness, they are among the sweetest animals on Earth.
