In considering the factors that support us on our kindness journey, I realized that friends play a key role. When we have someone we can talk to about anything - knowing they will listen, support us, challenge us when we need it – that provides a container in which we get to know ourselves and each other.
Friendship is a special expression of love, and it can support us as we go out in the world with the intention of bringing kindness with us wherever we go.
All friendships are a gift. Some are comfortable. Some are challenging. Some help us to grow in unexpected ways.
This week, I was introduced to a video that celebrates an extraordinary friendship between two young men with severe disabilities who defied all expectations in rising above their physical challenges – together.
Dartanyon Crockett and Leroy Sutton demonstrate the power of friendship and the triumph of the human spirit over extreme obstacles. It blew my heart wide open.
